Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 (PS752) was a scheduled international passenger flight from Tehran to Kiev operated by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA). On 8 January 2020, the Boeing 737-800 operating the route was shot down shortly after takeoff from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC). All 176 passengers and crew died. The shoot-down occurred during the 2019–2020 Persian Gulf crisis, five days after U.S. President Donald Trump launched a drone strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in retaliation for the 2019–20 attack on the United States embassy in Baghdad by Kata’ib Hezbollah, and hours after Iran launched missiles on U.S. bases in Iraq.
