The founder of Wisner Law Firm, Floyd A. Wisner, is approaching his 38th year in the practice of law. He is a skilled veteran aviation attorney who has successfully represented clients in virtually every major airline and aviation disaster over the last two decades.
Floyd served as a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee, leading the multi-district consolidated aviation litigation arising from the aviation disasters of American Airlines Flight 587 at Belle Harbor, New York; Swissair Flight 111 in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia; Egypt Air Flight 990 off Nantucket, Massachusetts, Silk Air Flight 185 near Palembang, Indonesia; and TWA Flight 800 off Long Island, New York. He is an aviation lawyer that has also represented aviation clients arising from the World Trade Center attacks, and was the sole lead aviation attorney for 86 victims of the crash of Garuda Indonesia Flight 152 and for 56 victims of the crash of Austral Flight 2553.
Floyd Wisner has won significant, ground-breaking victories for his aviation clients in difficult, complex cases before both federal and state trials, as well as appellate courts throughout the United States. He has been the most successful aviation attorney in the U.S. Floyd has kept cases arising from foreign air and aviation crashes in American courts, as evidenced by his defeat of defendants’ motions to dismiss for forum non-conveniens in the last seven cases that he has obtained a considerable settlement. Floyd Wisner is an aviation attorney that has obtained record recoveries from aviation disasters involving airlines and aircraft/component parts manufacturers around the world.
The multi-million dollar recoveries Floyd has recovered for his aviation litigation clients have helped them begin to rebuild lives shattered by these airline and aviation tragedies. Floyd takes great personal and professional satisfaction in the help he has been able to provide to his aviation litigation clients and to the life-saving aviation safety changes which have resulted, in part, from the efforts of his aviation law firm.
An active member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association, Floyd is a frequent speaker on aviation law and litigation topics, and the subject of international news articles and television interviews. He is an aviation attorney that has been interviewed on several occasions by various CNN stations in the U.S. and worldwide, as well as on television and radio stations in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Australia. Most recently, Floyd has been quoted in numerous U.S., Australian, Malaysian, and Chinese news publications concerning the disappearance of Malaysia Air Flight 370 and the shoot down of Malaysia Air Flight 17. However, he is most proud of, and grateful for, the appreciation and recommendations of his many aviation litigation clients.
Floyd graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University and magna cum laude from DePaul University College of Law.
