A Boeing 737-200 departing Jose Martí International Airport on 18/05/2018 crashed shortly after departure, killing 113 people on board including all six crew members. The plane was rented by a Cuban State Carrier, Cubana de Aviacion, who have a history of leasing old aircrafts and initial reports show the Boeing aircraft was 38 years old, having been previously leased by numerous airlines since the late 1970s. Cubana de Aviacion has taken many planes out of rotation due to consistent mechanical problems and further investigation into Flight DMJ 0972 will focus on this particular detail
