On October 2, 2015, the Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft being operated by Airiastar from Andi Jemma Airport in Masamba to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, Indonesia crashed into the Indonesian mountainside. Eleven minutes after takeoff, the aircraft went missing. The wreckage was found three days later near Masamba and all ten persons on board were confirmed dead. It was the deadliest crash in the airline’s history.
